In the summer, you may opt to spend the day hiking on one of our local trails. Your choice will depend on your fitness level and mood - Bend itself is home to many easier routes that wind directly through town; the mountains to the east offer more challenging treks at higher elevations. If you'd rather pedal than walk, there are several local shops that will be happy to assist you (bike tours are also available). Have you always wanted to try fly fishing, or are you an old hand that needs a little direction? The lower Deschutes is renowned for its large trout and energetic steelhead, both of which will give you battles that you will be describing to friends for years. Wade around on its riverbanks or enlist an area guide for a once in a lifetime floating expedition. They'll put you on fish even if you're a first timer. And speaking of floating, have you ever had the chance to experience the thrill of shooting the rapids in a large Western river? If you haven't yet experienced the finest in Oregon white water river rafting, be sure and leave a day open for the thrill of a lifetime. Its 300 inches of annual snow, seventy manicured trails, and state-of-the-art lift system has earned it the reputation of a world class ski mountain that can be accessed with our complimentary shuttle exclusive to guests of Seventh Mountain Resort, a Premier Resort during the ski season. Its Cross Country Center ensures that the non-speed demons in your group can enjoy some spectacular Nordic Skiing, and the younger folk can bundle up and enjoy the tubing hill. For the non-skiers, the Bend area has facilities for ice skating, indoor swimming, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
